One of the 4 cases of infection with Coronavirus in Cuba, a 61-year-old Italian patient has been in critical condition on the island since the night of March 15, 2020.
The patient, who arrived at the Havana Airport on March 9th, traveled by road with his wife and another couple from Havana to Trinidad on the day of his arrival.
On March 11th, some of the members of the group presented symptoms of the disease and were transferred to the Pedro Kourí Tropical Medical Institute (IPK) in Havana, where three of them were positive for the COVID-19 test for the novel Coronavirus.
Since their arrival in the IPK, patients have evolved favorably as reported by the official press in Cuba, however, yesterday the official site Cubadebate has published a statement notifying that one of the three patients presents clinical complications, which are characteristic of the COVID-19 disease.
The patient, of Italian origin and whose name has not yet been revealed by the press, is in critical but stable condition. The 61-year-old man has a history of suffering from Bronchial Asthma and since yesterday March 16, 2020 at 12:00am, doctors had to provide him with artificial ventilation.
A group of experts from the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), keeps a continuous watch on the evolution of the patient.
On the other hand, the other three cases maintain a stable evolution, according to an IPK spokesperson.
